THE AREA

The property is in Deux-Sèvres, which lies in the heart of the Poitou-Charentes region of South West France,  and is named after the two major rivers - Sèvres-Nantaise in the North and Sèvres-Niortaise in the South.

Authentic, rural, tranquil, unspoiled, historic - all apply to Deux-Sèvres.  Much of Deux-Sèvres remains dedicated to rural activities and with such an excellent climate, it provides the ideal location for those wanting to live in the "real" France. There is the art and history of Parthenay, the trendy and cosmopolitan city of Niort, the lush landscape of the Marais Poitevin (Green Venice), and a landscape of fields and hedgerows which make you feel right at home.  Add to that the easy access to so many places and attractions - the Loire Valley, Cognac, La Rochelle, Futuroscope, Puy du Fou, Atlantic beaches plus many more, and Deux-Sèvres has it all.

The region enjoys up to 2,500 hours of sunshine a year, which is second only to the Côte d'Azur.

The surrounding countryside is known as the Pays de Gatine, an idyllic part of rural France, with hundreds of miles of country lanes winding through diverse and interesting landscapes.  This makes it an ideal place for a tranquil relaxing holiday, for walking and cycling, and for observing the wide range of fauna and flora.
